Western red cedar

Western Red Cedar is an excellent choice for slat cladding.

The wood is not thermally treated, but has a natural resistance to rot and fungi, comparable to thermally treated wood.  

This type of wood also has a low density, which gives it good insulating properties and makes the material easy and pleasant to work with. Despite these properties, it is extremely durable and robust. In addition, it has been tested as a Facade system in end-use tests and has a documented fire classification.

Cedar is a quality-assured, versatile and robust wood without knots. It is quite hardy and highly resistant to weathering, rot, insects and fungi. As well as being lightweight, cedar has a low density and minimal maintenance requirements.

Cedar wood has a reddish sheen that patinates beautifully over time and takes on a beautiful muted silver color. It is also possible to pre-patinate all wooden slats in advance so that they are evenly patinated before construction.
